Tastey Jam-Sandwiches.

This past Friday I went to see Lotus at Revolution Hall. The first thing that comes to mind is “tasty jam sandwiches”. Made up of five members, Lotus’ style produced one of the most fun sounds I’ve heard. The bassist stood center stage and ran a set of lights, both on stage, and in the rafters as well as a midi foot pedal similar to the one that was used in class to add in various electronic drones, and pulses. He played quick, funky, dance oriented lines that were one of my favorite parts of the show. The drummer was playing a really fast dance break-beat style the entire show. I couldn’t believe how he kept up with the other guys, especially because their average set length is about four to five hours in length, stopping only for fifteen minutes halfway through. The lead guitarist had a clear background in jazz, and was incredibly talented. The rhythm guitarist/synth man along with the bongo guy did a really good job of filling, and creating different background sounds, also bringing an electronic feel to the mix. The show went until one thirty in the morning, I mean, I couldn’t see myself playing a set five hours in length anytime soon. I have a lot of respect for Lotus and what they do.

  1. Hey Kyle, thanks for your report! in the future, you can just send it to me in an email, rather than posting it., although, it was pretty nice to see it up there.
